Anita George Nursing Award
One of my passions for my future nursing career, is to contribute to eliminating the inequity of healthcare in First Nations communities. Since, I grew up in a First Nations community myself, I saw first hand, the lacking in healthcare that First Nations communities face.
I also believe that there is a need for more First Nations healthcare providers that are culturally aware that can create culturally safe environments for First Nations clients. By doing this, I hope I can be a role model to others to pursue a healthcare career and further education to creating a sufficient healthcare system for future First Nations generations. As a young mother, I also believe it’s important to pursue higher education as a First Nations person because we are able to help our communities through our careers by educating ourselves while integrating our culture and traditions.
