It is with great enthusiasm that I share my passion for nursing and my reason for why I became a nurse. I have been working as a pediatric nurse for the past four years. I am currently in my masters to become a nurse practitioner. Once I graduate, I hope to specialize as a pediatric nurse practitioner and focus on primary care. This will focus mostly on pediatric illness management and growth and development. My mother is currently a family nurse practitioner, and she has been my role model since starting nursing school. Growing up with a nurse practitioner has helped highlight the important role they play within primary care, and how crucial they are to the healthcare system. Since starting my nursing program I have been passionate about working with the pediatric population. I love how working with children gives nurses endless opportunities to be creative and have fun with their nursing care. I love working with children and supporting families during difficult times. Family centered care is very important as a pediatric nurse, and I often utilize this model during my nursing career. Nursing is a career that provides you with the opportunity to utilize critical thinking skills and work in a team environment to provide the best care possible. I feel lucky every day that I get to call myself a nurse!
