Sanofi Pasteur Limited Scholarship in Public/Community Health
From a young age, I’ve always been passionate about helping sick and marginalized individuals, especially children and women. Naturally, I aspired to work in the healthcare field. However, it wasn’t until I stumbled upon an article about the role of a nurse practitioner that I found my calling. The merging of nursing philosophy and primary care medicine fascinated me.
Driven by this newfound inspiration, I returned to UBC to pursue a BSc. in Nursing after completing my BSc. in Psychology. Over the next seven years, I wholeheartedly dedicated myself to making a tangible impact on people’s lives as a registered nurse in various fields, including cardiac sciences, critical care, and clinical informatics. It has been a great privilege and a humbling experience to enter someone’s life at their most vulnerable and support them towards recovery or comfort. However, I have also witnessed too many patients end up on mechanical life support or with debilitating disabilities due to inadequate access to proper primary care in their community.
Motivated by these experiences, I returned to UBC once again to pursue the MN-NP program degree. Currently, in my final year, I eagerly anticipate becoming a competent and socially responsible family nurse practitioner, dedicated to the well-being of our community. My vision is to be a healer and leader who loves, cares for, and inspires others.
I am deeply grateful for the generosity of CNF donors. Receiving this scholarship is a tremendous honour and validation of my lifelong commitment to helping others.
