Nightingale Award
Hello, my name is Emma and I am going into my third year of nursing at Queen’s University. I chose to pursue nursing because of my desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I believe in supporting individuals to reach their potential, so that they can achieve their optimal health and wellbeing. My ultimate nursing aim is to aid a range of clients throughout the lifespan, providing exceptional care and working with clients to help them achieve their goals, and I believe that strengthening primary care nursing can enhance healthcare. Upon completing the first year of my BNSc program (2018-2019), I received three accolades: the Dean’s Honour List with Distinction, the Appeal Undergraduate Scholarship, and the A.J. Baumgart Outstanding Achievement Award. Outside of academics, I work in the School of Nursing as a Simulation Lab Assistant and volunteer at academic and transition support programs at Queen’s University. Over the summer, I have been working in long-term care as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to further my knowledge and skills as a healthcare provider. I am most proud of my decision to pursue nursing, where I am able to foster my passion of helping others.
