Award Recipient

Esther Kempling

CNF Scholarship

I began my nursing career at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in January, 2012, and entered the hospital as a student nurse in the second week. The amazing experience I encountered was more than I had anticipated. This journey has strengthened my love of service to others in the medical field.  I have been blessed to share in the joys and sufferings of the many people I have met; I am truly honoured to take part in their care.

I am now halfway through the program and excited to continue with classes and clinical. This scholarship will help relieve a large financial load and I am extremely grateful. Upon graduation I hope to start in the emergency department and ultimately work in the intensive care unit (ICU).  I believe the ICU will fulfill my passion and longing to help patients’ physical, medical, and emotional needs, as well as allowing me to build relationships with patient and family. I also plan to volunteer in smaller communities focusing on health education and illness prevention.  As a registered nurse I look forward to working in a team and helping people in a great need.  I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity to make a positive, and in some cases, life-changing difference in someone else’s life.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
