Jenelle Revells

Northern Award

As a mature indigenous student, I had always had a passion for helping people but I hadn’t ever considered nursing as a career for myself. I always had an interest in the sciences, especially biology, and learning how everything worked. After completing my Bachelor of Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), I decided to pursue an education degree so that I could help educate our world’s future leaders. Although I enjoyed teaching, I realized that health care was my true passion and I wanted to spend my time helping people in their most vulnerable and difficult moments.

I am currently entering the final year of my Bachelor of Nursing (Fast-Track) at MUN and I am very excited to spend this next year continuing to learn and grow as a nurse. Last year, I had the privilege to sit on my class executive board and to serve as a student representative for the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL).

In my very rare free time, I play in the Molson 67 Women’s Volleyball league and I enjoy running with my dog, Rhea. I also knit finger puppets and newborn hats for donation to the Janeway here in St. Johns, Newfoundland.

I would like to thank the Canadian Nurses Foundation for choosing me as one of their scholars. This scholarship will help to finance my nursing education this year and allow me to continue focusing my efforts on becoming the best possible nurse that I can be!
