My name is Jennifer Jackson, RN, and I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all donors to the Canadian Nurses Foundation. My background is in critical care nursing, and I am completing my masters by studying the process of critical care nursing resilience in workplace adversity. This research is important because critical care settings are known to be a hard place for nurses to work. Patients and families experience the worst days of their lives in critical care settings, and nurses can become burnt out from the pressure in this environment. However, many nurses also thrive in critical care settings. I am trying to learn more about thriving in critical care settings so that I can develop a theoretical framework to help nurses cope well. This matters for patients and their families because when we can help nurses to thrive in their workplace, they will provide better care to patients and families. It is also important that we care for the caregiver, and support nurses in Canada to do their best work. Thank you for supporting me as I complete this research, and thank you for believing in Canada’s nurses.
