Juels McGuire

WeRPN Award for Student Excellence

I am a Registered Practical Nurse currently studying with Nipissing University to receive a BScN. I entered health care as an Environmental Aide at Hamilton Health Sciences and pursued my medical terminology certification through night classes, allowing me to advance into a ward clerk position. During my clerical role, I received encouragement from two separate physicians to pursue further education and enter the nursing field. As a young girl, I always knew I wanted to change my life circumstances and set a positive example for my nieces and nephews. I will forever be grateful for the inspiration and motivation those physicians gave me.

Since obtaining my RPN diploma, I have practiced in a remote Northern Ontario community on an Acute Medicine unit, refining my nursing and caregiving skills. I bring excellent communication and emphasize the importance of health teaching with patients and their families. My long-term goals are to positively impact change and significantly impact nursing and medical care delivery to minority and marginalized populations. I am a firm believer and strongly advocate that everyone deserves access to equitable health care.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
