Kaila Namit

Tylenol Canada Bursary

Hello, my name is Kaila Namit. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be everything—an artist, a fashion designer, an architect, a nurse. Barbie said I could be anything I wanted, and I fully trusted her. After moving to Canada from the Philippines at age five, I still gripped that dream tightly, despite the fear of unfamiliarity.

Growing up, I realized that choosing a path wasn’t just about what looked fun; it was about what felt meaningful and secure. For me, that was nursing. I may be a bit shy, and social situations haven’t always been easy, but I’ve learned that quiet doesn’t mean incapable. I’m confident in my ability to work hard, take feedback, and grow, not just as a student but as a future nurse.

Being awarded a scholarship is more than just financial aid; it’s proof that someone saw potential in me, even when I was still discovering that part of myself. I feel incredibly fortunate to be where I am, and I don’t take it for granted. Nursing is my way of giving back.

I’m excited to look back at my progress. I want to see how far I’ve come, knowing that every hurdle I faced was part of the track I ran (and survived) to reach my dreams. To all my introverts with anxiety, discomfort in social situations is okay. What’s important is not to let doubt and fear control you.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
