CNSA Community Involvement Award

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to the sciences. Later on, during my high school years, I got a job as a monitor at a volleyball camp. I needed to take a first aid & CPR course for this job. During this training, I was just fascinated by how resilient but delicate the human body can be and all the cool things we can do to treat people. The “medicine” seed was planted in my brain. As time went on in my teen years, I visited some family hospitalized members. I noticed that the nurses had the most exciting role in my family’s care. The nurses had a very conscientious yet human role within the healthcare system. I fell in love with the idea of empowering people to be active with their own care, sharing knowledge, and witnessing some of the rawest events humans can experience. I also find the adrenaline rushes that come with the job quite extraordinary, to be honest. After looking into the educational pathway more in-depth, I decided to enroll in nursing school because of how diverse the scope of practice and work environments can be. I would be free to go between bedside nursing, public health & preventative care, management, etc. The incredible reach of the nursing practice feeds into my ambitions of continuous self-growth and development.
