Kalandra Dueck

CNSA Impact Award

Hi, my name is Kalandra Dueck and I’m currently a year four nursing student with a strong passion for women’s health and birth. As a mother of two, I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful and life-changing good nursing care can be – especially during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Those experiences inspired me to become a nurse and support other families during some of the most important moments of their lives.

I chose nursing because it allows me to combine my love for health, learning, and caregiving. I’m especially drawn to the way nurses build trust and connection with their patients, helping them feel seen, heard, and supported. I want to be that steady presence for other families – whether they’re welcoming a new baby or navigating other aspects of their health.

Even as a student, I’ve had the chance to learn so much about the human body, the birth process, and the emotional and physical care families need during this time. Each patient experience has only deepened my passion and confirmed that I’m on the right path.

When I’m not studying or spending time in clinicals, I’m with my husband and two little ones, who keep me busy, grounded, and constantly inspired.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
