CNF Scholarship

The scholarship I have received through the Canadian Nurses Foundation is a source of encouragement and support for me in furthering my nursing studies. I view nursing as a way to contribute toward the welfare of others and I value the opportunity to pursue a career that is also personally meaningful. My nursing education has enabled me to develop an empathic way of caring while developing my skills and medical knowledge. It really has been a fascinating adventure, of learning about how to support health and healing in “real life” contexts.

The gift of this scholarship is of great assistance financially, and will contribute toward my ability to pursue a career within community nursing. My desire to work in the community stems from my previous work experience with immigrants and those experiencing poverty. I believe that health promotion that looks at the community context is a vital part of achieving positive health outcomes for Canadian citizens. I find a lot of fulfillment in listening to and working with individuals to discover needs and find ways of responding to those needs in ways that are embraced by the community.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
