Margaret F. Munro Award

My name is Katherine Smith and I am a nursing student at the University of Prince Edward Island. I decided to get into nursing as I have always wanted to work in health care and I love caring for people and being challenged. I am very much enjoying the nursing program so far as I have learned more than I could ever imagine about caring for people. Every day that I’m in the program I learn more and feel more comfortable and confident caring for patient’s. Something I love about nursing is that there are so many different directions you can go when you graduate. There are so many different opportunities both in public and private practice. I am also interested in getting my masters degree some day to keep building on my skills. I love educating people so being a part of a faculty of nursing someday is something I would be interested in. Overall I am thrilled with my decision to go into nursing as it truly is a special and exciting field.
