Tylenol Canada Bursary
I’m Khadidja Taguina, born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, and a French-speaking Canadian of Chadian heritage. From a young age, I wanted to help others and make a difference. Over time, I’ve learned that kindness in care truly changes lives. Growing up, my mother taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. She believed I could achieve anything I set my mind to, and her example gave me confidence to pursue my goals. This mindset guides me in all I do.
As I got older, I wanted a career blending science, empathy, and compassion. Nursing stood out because it brings these together. It’s a profession where knowledge meets heart, and healing happens through presence, listening, and advocacy not just treatments. Before clinical roles, I volunteered in my community. It strengthened my responsibility and helped me understand the needs of many people. These experiences shaped the caregiver I want to be.
I work as a clinical extern, gaining insight into patient care that prepares me to become a registered nurse. This experience has helped me build practical skills, grow in confidence, and understand what it means to care for someone in vulnerable moments. Now in my third year of the Nursing program at Brock University, I’m more committed than ever. Each experience, both in and out of the classroom, has deepened my passion and understanding of nursing.
As a Black woman in healthcare, I know how important it is for patients and providers to feel seen and respected. Representation matters. I want to help build a more inclusive healthcare system.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to become a Physician Assistant, deepen my skills, and better serve communities. I’m committed to helping, leading, and making sure no one feels alone. This scholarship reminds me why I started and motivates me to keep going
