Khalila Campbell-Fagan

CeraVe Skincare Scholarships for Diversity and Equity

My name is Khalila Campbell-Fagan and I am an incoming fourth year nursing student at Toronto Metropolitan University. I enjoy participating in research and I like to volunteer with the Bladder Cancer Awareness Society at Toronto Metropolitan University. I decided to become a nurse because I was able to see how demanding healthcare is especially in underserved areas. By visiting rural communities, I was taken back by the lack of access to basic medical care and the impact it had on the quality of life of the people who lived there. This made me realize that I wanted to be part of the solution to improve health outcomes to patients in underserved areas. I appreciate that nursing grants me the opportunity to provide essential care to those who need it the most and to advocate for patients who may feel unheard. Overall, I want to use nursing not only to treat illness, but to also address systemic issues within the healthcare system.
