Tylenol Masters Award

I am a registered nurse and a first-year nurse practitioner student studying at the University of British Columbia. As a child, I fell ill and made frequent trips to BC Children’s Hospital. Although my hospital experience was stressful, the heartwarming interactions I had with the nurses and the healthcare team inspired me to work with children. I graduated from nursing school and became a NICU nurse at BC Women’s Hospital so that I can support and care for infants and their families in stressful moments. I truly love improving infants’ health and wellbeing, and I also enjoy working alongside our NICU families.

I believe family members are the most important caregivers for their infants and a vital member of our healthcare team. On the unit, I encourage all family members to actively participate in their baby’s care and empower them with the knowledge and skills required to make a positive impact on their neonates’ health. Through productive collaborations with families, I am better positioned to advocate for healthcare decisions that are in accordance with their values, beliefs, and goals.

I am deeply grateful for receiving this scholarship! I want to thank the donors and the Canadian Nursing Foundation for supporting me in advancing my nursing education so that I can provide additional care to families!
