Award Recipient

Lindsay Coakley

TYLENOL® Fund to Advance Diversity in Nursing and Health Equity Research

I completed my Practical Nursing diploma in 2022. From then on, my passion for nursing only
grew and I decided to return to school to obtain my BScN. Currently, I am enrolled in the
Scholar Practitioner Program through Nipissing University. I continue to work as a Registered
Practical Nurse at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Here, I demonstrate client
and family-centred care and work in collaboration with clients to achieve their goals.

I choose to pursue nursing as there are endless learning opportunities and I am passionate about lifelong learning. I love how I’m challenged on the job and must leverage my critical thinking and problem-solving skills to approach each situation. I have a deep-rooted desire to help others and make a meaningful impact on their lives. Nursing provides me with an outlet to demonstrate kindness and compassion towards individuals in their most vulnerable moments. I recognize that there are injustices and inequities in our system and I seek to be a positive change. I appreciate how as a nurse, I can use my professional power to advocate for patient populations that may face such inequities.

I am beyond grateful to be a recipient of this award and call myself a CNF scholar. Thank you to
my donors for your support in my continuing education.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
