Award Recipient

Lindsay MacDonald

Yvonne Andrews Award

My name is Lindsay MacDonald, I am from Bedford, Nova Scotia and I am in semester five out of eight of my nursing program at Dalhousie University. I chose nursing as a profession because I value the relationship nurses make with their  patients through having the most direct patient contact. I played competitive soccer my whole life so I thrive in a team environment where I am able to encourage participation from all members. As a nurse, I will use the leadership skills I learned through soccer to collaborate not only with other nurses on my unit but also with various members of the interdisciplinary team for creative problem solving. I have always been interested in women’s reproductive health; growing up I loved to spend my free time investigating my personal knowledge deficits surrounding reproductive and women’s health and sharing everything I had learned with family and friends. As a nurse I will be able to continue this passion by providing patient education helping women and birthing people through the labour and delivery process and/or transition to postpartum and breastfeeding. I love that as a nurse I have amazing opportunity for growth and continued learning throughout my career. I plan to always advance my practice through education and share my knowledge through teaching and mentorship.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
