Innovative Medicines Canada Nurse Practitioner Award

A nurse practitioner master of nursing student, I was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. With a love of the salty ocean air, I am happiest when biking, hiking and swimming with my dogs outdoors. A community-minded and health-driven enthusiast, I became a nurse because I wanted to help the people in my community live their best, most-fulfilling lives. In high school, I started a yoga program for my fellow students with unique learning and physical needs, ensuring everyone had access to the health benefits of exercise. What I love most about being a nurse is you are required to be innovative in helping others while remaining flexible throughout health delivery. No two people are the same and this fact is just one of the elements that keep nursing exciting. I am proud of the many roles I have held as a registered nurse, researcher, clinician, and teacher. Aligning with my overall goal, these roles have had a demonstrable impact on inpatients, students and families in the community. I hope I can bring my combination of skills to further innovate and update how patients receive and experience care in the community as their primary care provider.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
