John J Vanderlee Award for Male Nursing Students
I am becoming a nurse because I want a fulfilling career path where I can influence the health of many by working alongside my community. I envision myself working as a public health nurse. I have a previous degree in politics and have worked professionally in the field of communications. My hope is to utilize my past experience and current nursing knowledge to bring about positive change. I want to build stronger and healthier communities that do not rely on the use of the hospital. Through patient advocacy and public education, I want to empower the individuals I work with so they have the knowledge to manage their own health and wellness. My dream is to establish and execute public health campaigns and to help connect my community with essential resources such as mental health services and addiction support programs. I am one year away from completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and I am elated to be a CNF scholar. This award brings me one step closer to achieving my dream of building stronger, healthier communities. Thank you!
