Eleanor Martin Award

Hi! My name is Noa, and I’m a nursing student at Mount Royal University and an undergraduate nurse working at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on the Oncology, Hematology, and Bone Marrow Transplant unit. I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare, but my decision to become a nurse became clear after spending years volunteering with the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta. Seeing these kids’ strength and being part of their journey had a significant impact on me, and after I graduated high school I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a pediatric oncology nurse. While initially nursing school appeared to be a daunting task, I pushed through the many hours studying for classes and waking up early for my 12 hour clinical days, because I knew this is what I was meant to do. In my current role, I care for young patients and work closely with an amazing team of nurses who teach and inspire me every day. To me, nursing means being there for these families when they need it most. I have seen such bravery and resilience in the children and families, and I cannot wait to graduate and enter the workforce as a Registered Nurse next year to better support my community.

This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses.
