TYLENOL® Fund to Advance Diversity in Nursing and Health Equity Research
I cannot say that I had an innate desire to become a nurse from a young age. However, the pivotal moment that made me decide to be a nurse was when I witnessed firsthand the exceptional care provided to my terminally ill father. Back then I was a high school sophomore who was stressed out about school, work and my father’s illness. The tireless efforts, unwavering compassion and dedication of the nurses and medical staff left a lasting impression on me. It was then that I realized the profound impact nurses have on the lives of individuals and their families.
I was inspired by their ability to not only provide medical expertise but also to offer comfort, support, and empathy to patients during their most vulnerable moments. The nurses I encountered became beacons of hope, advocates for health and wellness, and sources of encouragement. Their ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others resonated deeply with me, then I knew that I wanted to be part of this noble profession. Coming to nursing school further solidified my interest in nursing, I learnt that there are different fields in nursing such as research and informatics.
As I continue to grow in my nursing career, I am driven by a strong sense of purpose and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those I serve and the nursing profession as a whole. Hence, Being a nurse is not just a profession for me; it is a calling, and I am committed to fulfilling this calling with dedication and excellence.
