Award Recipient

Pamela Power

NANB Masters Scholarship

My name is Pam Power and I have been a Registered Nurse for 18 years now. When I was a young child, my uncle owned a local ambulance service, so play time for me was putting bandages on my dolls to make them feel better.  This eventually evolved into my love for helping people in their times of need.  I applied to nursing school from high school and was accepted into the Bachelor of Nursing Collaborative program through Memorial University and the Centre for Nursing Studies.  I have had a very successful career travelling throughout the country and Middle East with a focus on Emergency Medicine and am currently the manager of an emergency department in northern New Brunswick. Presently I am completing a Master of Health Studies through Athabasca University and my goal is to finish in December. I have also completed the Canadian Health Executive program offered through the Canadian College of Health Leaders and will receive that designation on completion of my Master’s degree.  I am very proud of my nursing journey and how far I have come from my nursing school years to present day.  It is without doubt a rewarding profession that I will aim to support ongoing through the remainder of my career.  Thank you for this opportunity! Receiving this award is very appreciated.

This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses.
