Sophie David

CINA/CNF Indigenous Award

Hello! My name is Sophie, and I am a fourth-year nursing student at the University of Manitoba. I come from a family of 6, including my pug named Max. I grew up in a smaller, tight-knit community where I learned to value family, relationships, honesty, and looking out for the best interests of others. It was through these values I discovered my passion for the healthcare system and decided I wanted to become a nurse. Nursing is a career that provides connections with others when providing care and is incredibly fulfilling in my life. Throughout my journey in nursing school, I have continued with these values, and now I have the goal of becoming a children’s oncology nurse working in cancer care. As a CNF scholar, I have thrived in nursing school. I have always been passionate about learning and now have the opportunity to continue to learn with the benefit of helping those I will care for in my nursing practice. Nursing allows me to provide care and support to those in need of comfort, contributing to the well-being of others. It is a career that provides me with constant learning and growth in both personal and professional contexts, and I am so excited to continue with my journey of becoming a nurse.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
