CeraVe Skincare Scholarships for Diversity and Equity
My name is Syed Danial Abidi. I am a Pakistani-born Canadian, a husband, and a father of two toddlers. I am currently entering the fourth year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Humber College. Becoming a nurse was not something I always planned on, but life has a way of leading us to where we need to be. I entered nursing as a mature student with a previous background in medicine. I sought the opportunity of nursing school after COVID-19 hit. I realized I wanted to be on the front lines, meeting future healthcare challenges. The challenges we faced during this period made me realize how crucial compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals are. I wanted to embody those values in a career I could feel happy and fulfilled in.
Nursing, for me, is not just a career—it’s a calling. It’s about being there for people during their most vulnerable times and making a tangible difference in their health and well-being. I’m excited to continue my journey, learn more, and ultimately become a registered nurse who can provide the highest level of care to my patients. Lastly, working near full-time hours and studying full-time while raising a young family has been challenging, but opportunities provided by the Canadian Nurses Foundation allow me to pursue community involvement, leadership roles, and being an executive team member of the Nursing Students of Ontario. I am honored to be a CNF scholar and forever grateful to the donors for their contributions.
