CINA/CNF Indigenous Award
My name is Talia Tumak, and I have been chosen as the recipient for the CNF Indigenous Award. My interest in the nursing profession, and career path in the healthcare field began when I started working at my local hospital in Winnipegosis, Mb. I had the privileged to witness the compassion and empathy provided by the nursing staff for their patients and recognized this profession was my calling. Throughout my nursing school journey, I have participated in and volunteered in various roles and opportunities to connect with other Indigenous nursing students and promote the nursing profession. My long-term career plan has remained the same since I embarked on this journey; to complete my education and return to my home community to provide care for community members. As I enter my senior practicum I look forward to the experience and knowledge that I will gain. I am honoured to be chosen for this award and very thankful for this acknowledgement.
