My name is Tatym Scheller and I am in my third year of my bachelor of science in nursing program. I have recently finished my obstetric and pediatric rotations and can easily say I have found my calling.
In my graduation year of high school, I decided to become a registered nurse with the hopes of one day being able to return back to my hometown and give back to and care for those that have cared for me over the years and got me to where I am today. With recently finding my passion, I now want to push this dream a bit further. In my hometown, there is no access to obstetrical or pediatric care and individuals that need this type of care have to travel a minimum of an hour to access it, which as health care providers we know has a significant impact on a patient’s outcomes. Due to this, once I have obtained my degree and gained some experience in the field, I hope to advocate for the development of an obstetrical/pediatric care facility in or around my rural community!
