Award Recipient

Ugonna Omeziri

CNSA Parent Award

My name is Ugonna Omeziri, and I am truly honoured and thrilled to be awarded this prestigious scholarship as I pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. I am currently enrolled at Humber College, where I am actively working toward my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Receiving this award is a meaningful testament to my dedication and passion for healthcare.

Coming from a family of compassionate healthcare workers, I have always been inspired by the profound impact they have on others. Nursing, to me, is more than a career, it is a calling. It is the opportunity to stand beside individuals during their most vulnerable moments, offering not just care, but empathy, presence, and hope.

As I reflect on why I chose nursing, I think back to the many moments in my life where compassion and healing have intersected. These experiences continue to motivate me to strive for excellence and inspire a deep sense of responsibility to make the most of every opportunity I’m given.

I would like to sincerely thank the Canadian Nurses Foundation for supporting my nursing education through the CNSA Parent Award. Your generosity not only lightens my financial burden but also reinforces my commitment to advancing health equity and providing compassionate care in the communities I will one day serve.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
