Victoria Mendonça Sá

CNSA Clinical Award

My name is Victoria Beatrice Mendonça Sá and I am a dedicated individual with a BSc. (Hons) in Life Science from Queen’s University. Graduating in the top 3% of my faculty, I actively supported women in STEMM through organizations like the Queen’s Chapter of the Scientista Foundation, where I co-founded the “Women of Scientista Podcast” and served as Co-Director. Additionally, I contributed to the Portuguese community at Queen’s by volunteering as a tutor and helping organize events such as the Portuguese Film Festival.

I earned a Master of Anatomical Sciences, showcasing my commitment through 120 hours of cadaveric dissection, a successful thesis defense on Clinical Practice Guidelines for Female Sexual Dysfunction, and an extensive teaching practicum. I also excelled in research and teaching, even instructing a clinical anatomy workshop for Ophthalmology residents. Furthering my impact, I served on the Scientista Foundation’s Board as Director of Campus Relations, managing 35+ chapters internationally.

Currently, I’m concluding my BScN. at the University of Toronto. During my clinical shifts I take a particular interest in providing culturally relevant care to multicultural childbearing families and supporting them in navigating the healthcare system. I was honored with the City of Toronto Queen Elizabeth II Sesquicentennial Scholarship in Community Health Nursing which recognizes my language fluency and academic achievements in this nursing specialty.

With a passion for community health and perinatal nursing, I one day hope to be the kind of nurse who spearheads nursing education, research, and practice.
