Choosing a career in the medical profession was always a priority of mine. When I decided to pursue nursing, I was so unaware of the many experiences and opportunities this career would have for me.  As I began my journey through nursing school and into the nursing profession, I quickly realized that this was the best decision I could have made.  Nursing has become such a love and passion of mine, and I could not be more proud to call myself a registered nurse.

Nursing is a profession that allows me to be both inspired and challenged. Whether I am working directly with my patients at the bedside or indirectly through my research, nursing allows me to make a difference in the lives of others.  My entire career as a registered nurse has been in pediatric nursing.  The resilience and determination I see in my pediatric patients profoundly influences the way I choose to practice nursing and has been a great source of encouragement as I begin to expand my career beyond the bedside and into the field of academia.
