Extendicare Award
I have always known that my passion for nursing would lead me to research and teaching. Upon graduating from my undergraduate nursing degree, I applied directly into the MN program at the University of Saskatchewan. My thesis project will focus on vulnerable populations (i.e. women and children, seniors) and how mobile technologies can be used to positively impact their health and quality of life within the community setting. With the assistance of this award I will continue to develop my thesis research and complete my Master of Nursing program. It is my hope that within 3 years I will be working towards my PhD!
The Extendicare Scholarship in Gerontology award will provide me with the opportunity to participate and share my thesis research with nursing communities throughout Canada. An important part of engaging in research projects is sharing that information with others and as a nurse, I appreciate any opportunity to further my knowledge and connect with my peers. I look forward to the moment where the results of my research can be used to benefit individuals and families within the community.
I am honored and very grateful to have the support of the Canadian Nurses Foundation.
