TD Aboriginal Nursing Award – Baccalaureate
I have always wanted to become a nurse since I was a young girl. I enjoy helping others and working in health care. I worked as a Nursing Assistant for many years therefore I was able to see the nurses in my unit helping people. I decided to go back to school and learn the skills I need in order to become a knowledgeable nurse. So far I have had the privilege to work with families and communities during my practical experience within the nursing program. This nursing program allowed me to gain many wonderful experiences and meet very nice people. I was able to teach families about healthy lifestyles to improve their overall health and help young mothers with their newborn babies. This coming year is sure to be a great experience but a challenge as well. It is a lot of hard work and many hours of studying to become a nurse. This award will provide me with the opportunity to achieve my goals in becoming a nurse, and in the future help communities within the healthcare system
