Denelle Bonneau

TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Baccalaureate

I have been an LPN since 2005 and my nursing journey has been exciting and fulfilling. I am taking the next step to increase my nursing knowledge base to continue to serve individuals, families and communities. I am honored to have been selected to receive TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Scholarship. This scholarship will benefit me in two great ways. First, receiving the award validates my educational endeavour and all the hard work and commitment I am putting forth to complete the nursing degree program. Second, receiving the award will relieve financial costs related to supplies and travel to attend clinical placements (which for me are conducted in anther province). The second benefit noted is most important to me because I have a family for which I am a sole provider for and the added cost of attending clinicals is a huge burden; therefore, it is with great appreciation and gratitude that I am a successful candidate for this award. Upon completion, I am going to focus on Aboriginal Health initiatives, programs and services; to be a part of the healing and revitalization of the Aboriginal people as they move forward towards better health and recovery from historical trauma.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
