TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Baccalaureate
I am First Nation Cree and Algonquin from Quebec. My immediate goals are to work in an urban health care setting prior to returning to my community of origin, which is located in the James Bay region of Quebec. My nursing passion is to work with the Cree population in various nursing services such as the community’s outpatient clinic, and in community health as an educator for diabetes.
It is an honor to be a recipient of the CNF TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award. This award will reduce financial burden but also enable me to acquire additional courses/certification to my benefit. My long-term goal is to advance my nursing education to a master’s degree and serve as a Nurse Practitioner in northern rural communities. Today, I am proud to say that I also serve as a young aboriginal role model to my community, and to future nursing students. This award will give me the confidence to continue my dedication for nursing and continue my role model of success! Meegwetch (Thank you)
