Award Recipient

Emily Thomas

Margaret Munro Scholarship

I am about to begin my second year in the Bachelor of Nursing program at the University of New Brunswick. I always knew that I wanted to be a nurse and after completing my first year I have learned so much about myself and the profession, and could not have been more right about my decision.

In my first year we focused on public wellness clinics in order to promote healthier lifestyles in our community, while also spending some time with the elderly in a nursing home. The experience of working with the community has made me think about pursuing a career as a community health nurse and even continuing on with my school in order to become a nurse practitioner. Although I am not completely sure yet if that is the direction I will take my career, I do believe that I will love whatever I decide to do.

I believe that the CNF Margaret Munro Award will not only benefit my studies but also have an impact on the lives of my patients and my community. I am extremely grateful for this gift for I will be able to focus solely on my studies which will aid me in providing my patients with the best care possible. There are no words to explain my infinite gratitude other than “Thank You”.
