TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Baccalaureate

I grew up in Merritt BC and I am from the Lower Nicola Indian Band. In 2009, I graduated with a Therapy Assistant Diploma from Okanagan College Kelowna.   While working as a therapy assistant and working at my first job in a hospital setting, I was immediately inspired to continue and further my education in the health care field.   Since then I have been working towards my dreams of going back to school to become a registered nurse.

While previously working in hospitals and long term care facilities I have realized that I have a passion for working with seniors.  My goal is to specialize in working with seniors when I graduate to promote a healthy lifestyle, make a difference in their lives, listen to their stories and learn from their past experiences.

As a CNF scholar I am looking forward to my education ahead and to be a successful registered nurse – to assist and care for others. Thank you to my donors for helping me pursue my dream; the CNF TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund will assist me in allowing me to concentrate more on my studies this academic year.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
