Extendicare Nurse Practitioner Award

I wanted to thank the CNF so very much for awarding me the Extendicare Scholarship in Gerontology. Currently, I am a Family Nurse Practitioner student, but also a Registered Nurse in British Columbia trained in the operating room, emergency department, and post-anaesthesia care unit.  As a future family NP, it will be my personal philosophy to not only make prevention, wellness, and primary healthcare education a top priority, but to also help advocate for increased primary health care services focussing upon healthy aging and disease management to a population that is living longer and afflicted with an increasing burden of chronic disease processes.

During my nursing education, I was lucky enough to complete nursing practicums in city hospitals within Nepal and the Philippines. For fun, I love to travel and play soccer whenever I can.  In my younger days, I also played competitive soccer, playing in tournaments in Wales, Scotland, and Britain.

I became a nurse to help those who cannot always help themselves; and as I become older, I know that a nurse will be there to help me too.

Thank you again very much.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
