RBC Diversity in Nursing Fund Award
I was born in the Philippines. I graduated in Ateneo de Davao University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007. My first job was in a dermatological clinic in our hometown. About four years later, my partner and I landed as permanent residents in Canada. In less than six months, I applied for my LPN license and got a glimpse of the nursing world. I have initially started working in nursing homes. I then chanced upon an interview in the Neurosurgery Department of Halifax Infirmary and have never left the unit ever since. On my days off, I lavish my precious time with my little girl and two dogs.
My long-term career plan is to continue my bridging course and work on acquiring my nursing degree in the next year. I honestly don’t see myself being in another profession other than nursing. Nursing is an adventure, an ongoing journey of learning, honor, humility and a chance to make the smallest difference in the lives of my patients.
