Isabelle Wallace

TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Baccalaureate

This scholarship provides me with financial support for the last year of my program and will enable me to complete a final practicum in an Aboriginal setting. I believe that Aboriginal nurses have an important role to play within these communities, particularly concerning the respect for Aboriginal culture. My involvement, my background and the knowledge gained during my training will be an asset in helping others.

This scholarship also provides me with additional motivation to pursue graduate studies at the Masters level, in order to work in population health and primary healthcare. Through this additional training, I will gain the knowledge required to better understand the issues currently facing Aboriginal people, and then contribute to their resolution.

Finally, I hope that this scholarship will encourage members of my own community to pursue nursing studies. I wish to thank TD and the Canadian Nurses Foundation for awarding this scholarship to Aboriginal nursing students and supporting them in their endeavours.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
