TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Baccalaureate
This year will be my second year as a CNF scholar. It has been my dream since I was much younger to work as a healthcare professional. My Nana was a registered nurse. She was someone I always looked up to. I chose the career path of Registered Nurse because of the time nurses get to spend caring for their patients. We are the front lines. We get more patient contact than arguably any other healthcare professional. I learned this while volunteering at a hospital when I was in high school. It wasn’t only my interest in life-saving work that made me choose nursing, but the spiritual and emotional aspects of care as well.
Nursing is such an incredible career choice because of the humanity it allows you to use with clients and the knowledge base you need to adequately treat clients. I have had the luxury of learning how to care for little people who were just born all the way up to caring for the palliative older adult. I firmly believe there’s no side to nursing that is not rewarding. Thank you to my donors for helping make my dream possible!
