RBC Diversity in Nursing Fund Award
Though my family influenced me to become a nurse, my inspiration to become one comes from my distinctive desire to provide service to others and care for them in times of need. Not only do I act the role of being a caregiver for patients, but also in some circumstances, I can be a friend, educator, advocate amongst others. Moreover, nursing is an exciting and fast-pace profession. Every day is not always alike. There is always something new to learn. Working under pressure and excitement each day is something that I always look forward to.
When my family and I migrated to Canada four years ago, it was a rough start: new life, new beginning. I wasn’t able to practice my profession (RN), which I have been previously doing in the last six years. It was distressing when I learned I had to do assessments, courses and tests to obtain RN registration. Nevertheless, I accepted the challenge. It was difficult juggling with work, family/kids and studies. But I was determined to pursue it. Now here I am almost at the finish line. I can’t wait to do what I always wanted to do… to be a NURSE.
