RBC Diversity in Nursing Fund Award
I am an internationally educated nurse from the Philippines and practiced as a Registered Nurse for six years in the intensive care unit and dialysis unit. I came to Canada in 2011 and got an equivalency for registered practical nurse license in 2012. Getting my license as a registered nurse in Canada meant I needed additional nursing education.
I have always been passionate about helping others and somehow make a difference in the lives of those whom I provide care. I feel that nursing as a career is very fulfilling. It is a calling, thus, I am making great efforts to achieve my aspirations.
It is quite hard to be in a new country with limited funds to pursue my dream of becoming a registered nurse. I am very fortunate to have been awarded the Canadian Nurses Foundation RBC Diversity Scholarship. At present, I am completing a program to bridge for RN and with this financial aid; I am steps closer to my goal. As a CNF scholar, I will strive even harder to realize my wish to become an RN and pay it forward to the patients in my care. I am very grateful to the Canadian Nurses Foundation and RBC, the donor, for giving their confidence and believing in my ability. Thank you for this opportunity.
