Tsetan Dolkar

RBC Diversity in Nursing Fund Award

I am Tibetan, born in India. I have completed my nursing education in India and have acquired almost 3  years of working experience there in Coronary Care Unit. In the year 2010, I immigrated to Canada. During my process of nursing registration in Ontario, I worked at various jobs to provide for myself and also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital. These experiences have given me good insights and knowledge on Canadian health care system. Throughout the process of registration, I strongly felt my desire and passion to work as a nurse again. In 2013, I received my Registered Practical Nurse License, which was the best thing that happened to me in a long time, followed by a job at the Runnymede Healthcare Centre.

Currently, I am still working as a part-time RPN while studying at York University for my Post. B.ScN Nursing. I feel very grateful for the acceptance of RBC Diversity in nursing scholarship. I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to CNF and the RBC sponsors. This scholarship will be of great help in financing my tuitions and it also motivates me strongly to keep up with my hard work. I envision in becoming a competent and compassionate Registered Nurse working in Ontario.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
