CNSA Practical Nursing Award

Looking back into my childhood, I remember my mother studying to become a clinical psychologist. I’ll never forget the day she was watching a lecture on TV and the professor was holding a human brain in his hand – from that moment on, I was obsessed with the human body! I would use our computer specifically to google pictures of internal organs and found the human body so fascinating. Biology was always my best subject in school and I would study and research it until I understood every aspect right down to the cellular level. This started my love of health care.

My nursing journey actually began with completing the Continuing Care Assistant program and working in a variety of settings including Long Term Care, Acute Care and Home Support. I fell in love with Home Support and this has been where I have worked since 2011. I became an LPN and continued my love of Home Support as a VON Nurse and not long into my nursing career I accepted a position as a Care Supervisor at CBI/RJF Health where I continue to dedicate my love of supporting clients to maintain the best quality of life in their own homes.

Currently I am working toward obtaining my BSc in Nursing through StFX University with the goal of working for Continuing Care as a Care Coordinator while continuing my education to obtain my Master of Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner.
