Michael Church retired from Avison Young Commercial Real Estate Services LLP in the fall of 2025 as the Managing Director, having established the Ottawa office in 2007. He began his real estate career in 1987 with the Regional Group of Companies, then with Cushman & Wakefield.

Michael’s career was focused on the many value-added facets of office leasing, and he managed complex assignments which often involved multiple approval levels and working with not-for-profit groups and volunteer boards. In addition, he completed many leasing and disposition projects for several of Canadas distinguished legal and accounting firms, chartered banks, and many local and institutional Landlords.

A former president of the Ottawa Board of Trade, Michael was an active community volunteer throughout his career.   He sat on the Boards of the United Way, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Operation Come Home. He assisted with numerous community fund raising undertakings for the Ottawa Hospital Foundation and CHEO. He is a former United Way of Ottawa Campaign Chair.

Michael has been married to Julie Mercantini since 1982, and they have two children, Kevin and Samantha. Michael is an avid golfer and advanced recreational skier.
